Our Mission
"How much should I weigh?" doesn't have one clean answer — clinical medicine has used at least four different formulas over the past 60 years, each developed for slightly different purposes. Most calculators online pick one arbitrarily and present it as gospel.
WeightCalculator.in shows you all four — Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi — averaged for a balanced estimate, alongside a healthy BMI weight range, so you get context instead of a single misleadingly precise number.
Our Methodology
Every calculation on this site uses published, verifiable formulas:
- Devine (1974) — originally developed for medication dosing calculations
- Robinson (1983) and Miller (1983) — refinements of the Devine approach
- Hamwi (1964) — one of the earliest widely used ideal body weight formulas
You can see the full breakdown, including the exact equations and a worked example, on our Ideal Weight Formulas Compared section.
Editorial Standards
Our content is written to be genuinely useful, not padded for search engines. We:
- Base claims on published clinical formulas and population health data
- Present multiple formulas rather than false single-number precision
- Separate general guidance from medical advice specific to your situation
Important: we are an informational resource, not a medical provider. Read our full Disclaimer before making health decisions based on any calculator result.
